KNOW THE ROLE 

Our Home & Lifestyle Team are looking for an experienced Home & Lifestyle Buyer to join their team. Our Head Office in Henry Street is a hub of creativity, style and innovation. Having an open plan space makes it easy to share ideas and be inspired daily.

As Home & Lifestyle buyer you will develop the business strategies by sourcing, selecting and purchasing a broad range of Home and lifestyle brands, identifying opportunities and recommend new products for the department while ensuring optimum quality merchandise is available in the quantities appropriate to achieve budgeted sales and gross profit.

  • Source and select merchandise assortments consistent with the strategy of the store and place orders with suppliers
  • Identify emerging trends in the market and creating opportunities in store to drive future growth
  • Collaborate with different areas of the business including Finance, Marketing, Creative etc
  • Liaise with Retail Operations team and hold regular floor walks to exchange information, receive feedback and take appropriate action based on performance
  • Manage and build the commercial and business relationships with our suppliers and partners and monitor and evaluate existing suppliers
  • Lead and motivate a team
  • Strength with ability to project manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Analyse sales of your department identifying areas of improvements
  • Liaise with the multi-channel team ensuring range is visible online and recommend adjustments to drive online business
  • Be fully informed of competitor’s activities in terms of merchandise and pricing
  • Partaking in buying trips and participate in the buying process ensuring that merchandise quality, mix and taste reflects company image
  • To ensure the optimum terms of business are being negotiated with suppliers
  • To work with the finance director and Living & Home director in preparing and reviewing budgets and to ensure you work within limits set in order to achieve target sales and margins
  • To monitor and control stock levels in furniture and build close relationships with the DC and furniture after sales team
  • To plan merchandise promotions/advertising in consultation with the homewares director, marketing, buyers and general managers
  • To identify slow turning stock problem areas and take appropriate action while ensuring that mark downs are kept within budgetary limits

KNOW WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Industry experience in leading organisations at buyer level, preferably with homewares and furniture background
  • Proven ability to project manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, applying strong time management qualities to meet the required deadlines
  • A passion for homewares and furniture and the ability to innovate in this area
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire buying teams
  • Commercially focused, experience with budgets and a proven ability to achieve stretching commercial targets
  • Proven track record of generating new business and achieving revenue growth
  • Ambitious and target focused with a drive to succeed
