About the role
As an experienced leader in systems engineering, you will be working with customers and internally within BMT to shape and assure the technical aspects of systems engineering in initiatives, bids and delivery. You will provide the guiding mind that drives coherence across the business and guidance in the domains in which we operate.
You will have three distinct spheres of influence: Thought leadership in systems engineering, technical assurance, and acting as the regional Digital Engineering Lead.
In the Thought Leadership role you will be supporting internal capability development through development of methodologies, tools, processes to ensure BMT continues to innovate and provide that expertise and systems engineering capabilities our customers are seeking. This will involve a close working relationship with our Research and Innovation leads. Part of this is to pass on your understanding in forums such as mentoring and continuous professional development activities.
In the technical assurance role, you will be responsible for the application of technical assurance within the Systems Engineering Capability in particular and support technical assurance wider as delegated by the Technical Assurance Manager. You will be supporting the Technical Assurance Manager in the continuous improvement of the assurance processes.
In the digital engineering role, you will be leading the be leading the BMT UK& Europe Region on its digital engineering journey in relation to how it delivers to customers and in improving the way it does its business. You will work with customers, Regional stakeholders, BMT Group and other Regions. In particular you will interface with the Global digital team in BMT Group.
In terms of location, the Systems Engineering focal point is in Bath but we also have offices in Plymouth, Weymouth, Fareham, London, Bristol, Leeds and Glasgow and we offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required. This role is full time, although part time may be considered at a minimum of 30hrs per week for the right person.
About you
You will have a strong technical background in systems engineering with interests and experience in associated areas. In particular, you will have experience and interest in digital engineering and associated change management processes.
You will have experience of successfully setting technical direction, providing specialist technical knowledge, leading teams and providing governance and assurance for large systems engineering projects, developing statements of work and proposals.
You will be comfortable working and communicating with internal BMT and customer teams and leaders through written and verbal mediums. You will be able to represent BMT in interactions with relevant clients and at industrial events and briefings to develop BMT’s standing in industry and community.
You will be an enthusiastic and experienced leader of technical teams, able to provide line management where agreed as well as mentoring to individuals and teams.
