The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring a Senior Advisor in Financial Stability Institute.

The FSI was jointly created by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) to assist financial-sector supervisors and financial regulatory authorities worldwide in improving and strengthening their financial systems.

The FSI delivers on this mandate by supporting the implementation of global regulatory standards and sound supervisory practices by central banks and financial sector regulatory and supervisory authorities worldwide. This work is mainly conducted through:

·       policy work,

·       outreach events,

·       capacity development.

FSI supports the mission of the BIS is to support central banks in their pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks

This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the job:

The main purpose of the job is to assist financial sector authorities globally in strengthening their financial systems and to promote financial stability by contributing to the above-mentioned FSI activities.

By joining the FSI team, you will:

·       work as a part of a group, that supports financial stability worldwide,

·       be part of our international team located in Basel,

·       have contact and regular exposure to central banks and financial sector authorities from around the globe.

Principal accountabilities:

·       Leading, authoring and contributing to FSI policy work.

·       Organising, chairing and presenting at FSI outreach events in Switzerland and around the world.

·       Supporting the FSI Connect project by contributing to its content development and by undertaking other tasks needed to keep this e-learning tool relevant and useful for the supervisory community.

·       Designing, organising and chairing FSI online courses.

·       Contributing to FSI strategic projects.

·       Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the work of global financial sector standard setters.

·       Representing the FSI at international meetings/events and in global standard setters’ groups.

·       Building relationships with central banks and other financial supervisory authorities as well as regional supervisory groups and international organisations.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

·       Advanced degree in finance, economics or other relevant discipline.

·       A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the financial sector/financial stability area of central banks/supervisory authorities; as a financial sector supervisory/regulatory expert with an international organisation; and/or in the financial industry or at a consulting firm.

·       Expert knowledge of international financial supervisory and/or regulatory standards.

·       Strong presentation and communication skills, including experience in delivering presentations to large and diverse audiences.

·       Excellent conceptual, analytical and drafting skills.

·       Ability to work accurately and independently as well as part of a team under tight deadlines.

·       Willingness to travel extensively.

·       Excellent command of English (verbal and writing).

·       Experience working in an international environment as well as involvement in the implementation of standards established by a financial standard-setting body would be an asset.
