The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring an IT Change Management Specialist to join our IT Operations team within our ITS department.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.

You will contribute to this mission by supporting the IT Operations team, to manage, enhance and implement change management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the smooth execution of IT changes within the Bank.

Principal accountabilities:

Change management

  • Facilitate and lead the Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and ensure effective communication and collaboration among CAB members.
  • Deliver training, guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders regarding change management best practices and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of change management activities (KPI’s, KRI’s), including the identification of areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including IT staff and business users to plan implementation of changes, ensuring that changes are implemented in a controlled and efficient manner.
  • Monitor operational activities and track progress of IT changes.
  • Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities with the prime objective of enabling beneficial changes to be made, with minimum disruption to IT services.
  • Apply and implement the Bank’s governance and change management processes to all changes required in the Bank’s IT production environment.
  • Delivers customer-facing communication and collaboration on all operational and change management related activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of changes in IT services and ensure standardised methods are used for efficient handling of all changes, to minimise adverse impacts from changes on business operations and the users of IT services.

Configuration management

  • Assist with maintaining information about systems, software and assets to populate CMDB including Cloud (Azure) and container environments (OpenShift) in support of change management activities.
  • Identify and report on configuration items and their relationships in support of IT services.

Business relationship management

  • Act as a liaison between IT and the business area, with responsibility for ensuring that the correct and appropriate levels of operational service, support and guidance are provided in aligning IT operations with the business requirements and overall business strategy.

Projects

  • Participates in project activities within IT Infrastructure and Operations.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Experience in IT change and configuration management gained through working in an IT operations role or similar
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks and change management methodologies, such as ITIL and ITIL certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems infrastructure and their interaction (cloud and on-premise).
  • Should possess a technical background with knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems and networking components.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM, ITSM, CAB workbench, CMDB and Software asset management tools.
  • Outstanding customer service skills with a proactive customer and service orientation.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, accuracy, speed and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to find an effective balance between providing excellent customer service and attending to ongoing operational tasks.
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks in a professional, efficient and timely manner with a sense of ownership and follow-through.
  • Excellent communications skills to enable clear communication with different audiences, to manage customer expectations and service partner deliverables.
  • Fluency in English.
