Senior Communications Specialist Programme Management and Planning 

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Senior Communications Specialist - Programme Management and Planning to join the Strategic Planning and Internal Engagement team within the Communications unit.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members. 

Purpose of the job:
Working closely with the Comms Management team, supports the unit in implementing the Bank’s communications strategy by:

  • Ensuring the continuous delivery of high-quality communication planning, business needs analysis and project management.
  • Supporting the execution of key communications campaigns.

Principal Accountabilities:

Liaison with business areas
Support centralised project and budget planning within the Communications unit to ensure resources are assigned strategically, user needs are identified, and projects are planned and implemented accordingly. Support change management activities, if required.  

Engage with business areas requiring support for multichannel communications projects to determine business requirements and desired outcomes. 

Analysing and documenting business needs, explore digital tool enrichment and modernisation tasks
Observe developments in communications strategy and digital platforms (including AI), judge their value for the Bank and translate them into clear requirements as a basis for decision-taking.

Streamlining Comms processes
Develop tools and agile working practices to plan, capture, support, track and deliver external and internal requests. Close the loop with requesters to ensure delivery on requests was satisfactory.

Periodically review the effectiveness and efficiency of Comms processes and development of self-service tools. Bring appropriate suggestions and performance metrics to the attention of Comms Management to ensure continuous improvements of the customer experience across all touchpoints.

Documenting procedures
Document processes and procedures for centralised project planning, ensuring documentation is kept current and communicated effectively to team members and contributors.

Liaison with business partners 
Support contract and procurement, liaise with internal and external business vendors and partners who provide infrastructure, development and technical support.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Work experience in project management within a communications environment
  • Experience to manage communication projects and programmes, including experience in digital communication projects, vendor and change management
  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics, digital technology, and management of communications related projects and processes
  • Strong knowledge about communications-related matters, including change communications
  • Excellent business analysis and consultative skills
  • Design thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Very good understanding of technology and experience with a range of digital communications projects and respective metrics
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Very good written and spoken English, German proficiency would be an advantage
