The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is looking for a Senior Alfresco Engineer to join our Corporate Applications team within our Information Technology and Services department.

The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

Within Information Technology and Services (ITS), the Corporate Applications team is responsible for developing and maintaining software platforms that are used across the Bank to provide best in class information, document and records management capabilities. These platforms help and enable different business units to provide their services to the entire Bank.

In this role, you will apply your outstanding knowledge in document and records management platforms and technologies to deliver projects addressing a wide variety of business issues.

By joining the Corporate Applications team, you will:

·        Contribute to the Bank's efforts in improving its information, document, and records management capabilities and actively participate in defining the record's management continuity plan.

·        Support a variety of projects as a technical lead ranging from small and tactical to Bank-wide strategic projects and have the opportunity to supervise external engineers in project work.

·        Work in a collaborative, agile environment partnering with both business users and technical specialists.

Principal accountabilities:

·        Provides technical leadership for the Hyland Alfresco platform and related systems handled by the team in the information management space.

·        Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for document and records management solutions.

·        Design, develop, and implement Alfresco-based solutions using best practices and industry standards, leveraging out-of-the-box capabilities as much as possible.

·        Customize and extend the Alfresco platform to meet specific business needs.

·        Integrate Alfresco with other enterprise systems and applications.

·        Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks as required.

·        Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Alfresco platform functionality and performance.

·        Conduct performance tuning and optimization activities to ensure optimal system performance.

·        Develop and maintain user documentation, including system architecture, design specifications, and user guides.

·        Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.

·        Drafts high-level business cases and associated roadmaps for technical and product strategies.

·        Provides production support for the aforementioned platforms on their own or with the help of internal or external resources.

·        Leads small or medium-sized projects and coordinates activities with team and stakeholders.

·        Actively develops a business understanding of BIS operations, software development and security practices.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

·        Recent experience working with the Alfresco platform.

·        Knowledge of Alfresco Content Services (predominately ADW but also Share), Alfresco Process Services, Alfresco Federation Services, and Alfresco Governance Services.

·        Proficiency in Java programming and web development technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

·        Experience with web frameworks such as Spring and Angular.

·        Familiarity with database systems, particularly Oracle. MySQL and/or PostgreSQL are considered an advantage.

·        Knowledge of enterprise document and records management principles and standard methodologies.

·        Previous experience converting a high-level strategic vision into an executable roadmap and delivering as per the roadmap.

·        Very good communication skills; ability to establish strong working relationships with business areas, as well as infrastructure and applications teams.

·        Ability to take the initiative and organise own work; flexibility; service orientation and customer focus;

·        Ability to manage complexity and deliver in time critical environments

·        Good problem solving and root cause analysis approach.

·        Ability to formally document and communicate complex system specifications.

·        Excellent team worker.

·        Fluent in English (oral and written).
