About Australia Awards Solomon Islands 

 

Australia Awards are prestigious, transformational scholarships, fellowships, and short courses offered to emerging leaders from developing countries for study, research and professional development in Australia and the region so they can return home and contribute to their nations’ development, prosperity, and resilience. Australia Awards aim to provide alumni with the skills and knowledge to drive change and influence economic and social development. Australia Awards Solomon Islands (AASI) complements other Australian aid investments in Solomon Islands and aligns with the Solomon Islands National Development Strategy 2016-2035 (SINDS). 

 

AASI is managed by DT Global on behalf of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Under the Australia Solomon Islands Program Support (ASIPS+) facility procurement and contract management support is provided to AASI.

The Role


The G&EO will guide and contribute to the effective integration and management of the program’s GEDSI and safeguards activities, program improvement, intermediate and long-term outcomes.

About You

 

You will need the following:

 

Qualifications

  • High regard for tertiary qualifications in gender or disability studies, international relations/ development, and/ or project management or related discipline.

Essential experience and knowledge

  •    Understanding of the Australian government’s strategic focus in Solomon Islands, with particular emphasis on GEDSI and safeguards, supported by knowledge of the higher education sector and how GEDSI and safeguards issues apply in the sector

  •    Demonstrated familiarity with and understanding of the social, cultural, and political context of Solomon Islands

  •   Understanding of principals of GEDSI, and the ability to apply these in planning, implementation, and MERL activities

  •  Relevant technical, management and facilitation skills, and the development and implementation of practical and useful GEDSI and safeguards frameworks

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in stakeholder engagement

  • Excellent analytical and written skills, in English

  •  Proven organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to prioritize own workload, and deliver quality outputs within agreed timeframes.

Desirable personal attributes, skills, and experience

  •  Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

  •   High degree of personal initiative, innovative, lateral thinking, and the ability to work independently, remotely, and under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Commitment to a capacity development approach, teamwork, coaching and mentoring other people and ability to build constructive and effective relationships, and  Patience, self-awareness, resilience, and flexibility.


Remuneration
Commensurate to the technical knowledge and years of relevant experience and in accordance with the DT Global and ASIPS remuneration framework
