Position Summary:

DT Global seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual interested in serving as Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated USAID-funded local governance activity in Cameroon. The DCOP will support the Chief of Party in overseeing project implementation and will provide technical management leadership to the overall project. The DCOP will represent the project to external stakeholders including government officials and donors and will supervise project staff to ensure that project activities are completed in a timely manner and are of high technical quality. This position will be based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and the successful applicant must be willing to travel to other locations as required.

This position is open to citizens of Cameroon and expatriates. Please note that this position is contingent upon donor funding and the contract award to DT Global.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and management leadership, develop technical strategies and oversee the design and implementation of project activities in coordination with project technical experts.
  •  Oversee the quality of all technical aspects of the project, including the management of potential subgrantees, short-term consultants and monitoring and evaluation and grant making activities.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of work plans, M&E plans, and all reports with members of the project’s senior leadership team.
  • Establish relationships with key project stakeholders and manage donor partnerships in collaboration with the Chief of Party (COP). 
  • Perform other duties assigned by the COP and represents the project in the absence of the COP.

Education & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years working in countries similar to the current environment in Cameroon, incorporating elements of stabilization, C/PVE, local governance, justice, conflict mitigation, and/or peacebuilding.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with communities and government officials.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills required.
  • Previous experience implementing C/PVE, DRG, or local governance programs in West Africa required, with experience in Cameroon highly desired.
  • Professional proficiency in English and French, both verbally and in writing, required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with host-country officials, donors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and supervise local personnel, ensuring they are onboarded and trained to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Proven mid- or senior level experience in challenging and complex field environments leading the design, management, and implementation of similar-sized donor supported programs that include grants or small grants under contract programs; and recent experience that includes the direct supervision of a team of at least five people.
