Technical Project LEADER

Job description:

The technical project leader manages all the activities carried out by the engineering team allocated to a project (design, configuration, calculation, materials and processes, systems, tests, ...), during the product development phases and/or during the "In service" phase covering evolution of the product.

The technical project leader takes the overall technical leadership of the project.

Main activities:

ü  Organize the project with the support of engineering centers of competence:

o   Compile the project budget and Establish the WBS, OBS, CBS

o   Establish a project schedule in accordance with the development process.

o   Establish the necessary resources for the project.

o   Establish and maintain the project development plan.

ü  Coordinate the Engineering project team at SONACA or on an external site (customer, partner, subsidiary)

ü  Organize and animate the technical reviews of the project internally and with the customer.

ü  Ensure the availability of the project deliverables and update the progress of the project according to QCD criteria and defined methodologies.

ü  Report to the head of projects and members of technical and program steering committees (Steerco).

ü  Establish and maintain the list of risks, issues, and opportunities of the project, classify them, participate in their analysis and to the establishment of action plans.

ü  Be the main technical contact for the internal and external customer(s).

ü  Ensure that all requirements (customers, internal, technical, environmental, security, etc.)  are considered, establish and monitor compliance verification matrix.

ü  Negotiate the technical aspects of the project and argue in support of the program (or account) manager, contractual modifications to obtain additional budget.

ü  Ensure the coordination and monitoring of engineering subcontractors.

Profile and Skills:  

ü  Required Education level: Master’s degree in mechanical / Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent). 

ü  Minimum 8 years of experience in project management (aerospace industry is an asset) 

ü  Ability to lead, set objectives, plan, and supervise a project team.

ü  Promotes motivation and teamwork

ü  Easily establishes contacts with all project stakeholders.

ü  Promotes good relationships and searches solution to disagreements with tact and diplomacy.

ü  Manages pressure and adapts easily to change.

ü  Flexible, mobile, and available for external missions for several days or weeks

ü  Technical Skills:

o   knowledge in technologies and materials (metallic and composite) used in aerospace industry.

o   Good understanding of main activities to be performed by the project team (Design, stress, M&P, …)

ü  Tools:

o   Microsoft office

o   SharePoint

o   MS Project

o   Project management tools

o   PLM System (i.e. Teamcenter, …)

ü  Language:

o   Good level in English is mandatory (spoken & written)

o   Basic level in French  

ü  Others:

o   Training in project management (i.e. PMI training) is a must
