Senior Project Manager

The Role:

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead projects of varying scale, budget, and discipline. Using your expertise, you will scope and plan with internal stakeholders and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing multiple teams, project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. Using your extensive management and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the directions of the business needs.

Day-to-day, you’ll be getting involved and leading:

The Senior Project Manager will be involved in managing a range of projects with a primary focus on operations and commercials, varying in sizes and complexity. The SPM will be a strategic thinker, client facing and work closely with clients to drive best ways of working for teams.

This is an opportunity to work in a WPP multi-agency environment, working to build relationships with the other agencies and teams to deliver a common goal. The SPM will be delivering multiple projects under various programmes/accounts, of different types from client brief to final output, at a global or level. Projects and broader workstreams will include (but are not limited to); campaign toolkits covering TVC, social, digital, shopper, 360 brand experience/strategy development programmes, website content creation, app design, content creation.

The role will involve the following activities:

  • Manage complex schedules that involve both internal and external teams
  • Track projects and tasks, communicating schedule and considerations to senior leadership.
  • Multi-task and prioritise activities for quick execution of critical path work items.
  • Take responsibility for the projects to drive them to delivery, working closely with the external production partner(s).
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to manage, track and control project issues to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Develop reports to track planning, scheduling, issues, risks, and overall status.
  • Oversee and input to the creation of new processes and tools as necessary to support additional needs and requirements of a fast-growing business.
  • Working with the WPP team to approach briefs in an integrated fashion
  • Monitoring overall progress, including resolving issues, managing budget, and initiating corrective action as appropriate
  • Managing third party vendors contributing to the projects
  • Working closely with the Heads of Department and Resourcing teams across multiple WPP agencies to monitor overall resource allocations for the projects

The skills & capabilities we’re looking for are:

The Senior Project Manager role interfaces daily with all disciplines within WPP as and has a responsibility for delivery as well as presales. The role requires:

  • Ability to work well and exert influence as a member of a highly integrated team.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication, project management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Communicates honestly and openly, working well in a team dynamic and always being open to feedback
  • Strong client-facing and negotiation skills
  • Effective team management and motivation skills
  • Disciplined PM skills: risk management, status reporting, change management
  • Effective estimation and proposal writing
  • Managing up to senior stakeholders and day-to-day peers as a central point of information

The role requires the following experience:

  • Experience of leading teams and natural leader with the ability to motivate and lead a team, even indirect reports
  • Experience managing budgets, POs and drafting legal documents (SOWs, etc.)
  • Experience working with agencies and vendors
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain constructive
  • working and communications relationships
  • Client management experience
  • Previous experience working an integrated environment
